Paper Bag Monster
SHARE
This is a great activity for sitting still and creativity, and it becomes a game. My son and I have had endless fun with this one, though he always cheats. This project is great for creativity and small motor skills.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Paper Bag (for each child)
Construction Paper
Glitter Glue
Googly Eyes
Pom-Poms
Xacto Blade (for mom)
DIRECTIONS
1 Decide where the mouth will be on your monster. Cut the whole with an Xacto blade (mom is probably doing this one). Cut lightly so you don’t cut through both sides of the bag, tracing your cut lines until the you cut through. Remove the mouth piece.
2 Design and create your monster. Don’t forget the googly eyes!
3 Let it dry.
MAKE IT A GAME WITH MONSTER MUNCH
WHAT YOU NEED:
Paper Bag Monsters
Table Spoons
Pom-Poms
Dice
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Place your Paper Bag Monster in front of each player and each player gets a spoon.
2 Pour a pile of pom-poms in the center of the table.
3 Roll the dice, choose the coordinating number of pom-poms of any size and scoop them up with your spoon.
4 Feed your monster.
5 When all the pom-poms are gone, each player counts their pom-poms, the player with the most pom-poms wins!
ALT OPTION: Older children can use the spoon and try to flick the poms into the monster’s mouth to make it more challenging.
